DNV considers the Middle East a highly dynamic region within our global organization. The region's growing trade activities have elevated the maritime industry's importance, making it a vital trading hub and a preferred destination for maritime activities in the broader Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Africa.

At DNV, we play a significant role in helping to guide and support our customers in the Middle East by:

  • Ensuring safety and compliance: We help to ensure the safety of vessels operating in Middle Eastern waters by providing high-end classification services that verify compliance with international safety and environmental standards and regulations.
  • Enhancing competitiveness: Our organization works with shipowners, operators, and other stakeholders in the regional maritime industry to help them enhance their competitiveness by optimising vessel design, reducing operating costs, meeting decarbonization goals and improving efficiency.
  • Supporting innovation: DNV actively supports research and development in the maritime industry, which drives innovation and improves efficiency.
  • Building capacity: Our organization, through our Maritime Academy, provides training and capacity-building services to the  industry’s stakeholders, including shipowners, operators, and regulatory authorities. By doing so, we help build the skills and expertise needed to operate vessels most effectively.

Our strategic alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 has empowered us to actively contribute to the Kingdom's ambitious objectives, particularly those related to revolutionizing the maritime and energy sectors. The establishment of our regional headquarters (RHQ) in Saudi Arabia underscores this commitment.

Located in the vibrant city of Al Khobar, the new RHQ office will serve as a central hub for our operations across 18 DNV offices in 8 countries. Our headquarters are in Turki Bin Abdulaziz Al Fardan Tower.

The Middle East holds a strategic advantage in utilizing its offshore leadership to drive technology adoption, pilot new regulations, and leverage global insights.

DNV continuously expands its service offerings to provide customers in the region with access to comprehensive technical expertise and global services to reduce operational expenditures (OPEX). Our suite of digital tools on the Veracity platform, including the EEXI calculator and SEEMP III generator, addresses evolving regulatory requirements. Notably, our Abate class notation assists offshore installations in decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, setting targets, and integrating new technologies. Rig owners can showcase their commitment to reducing emissions by implementing Abate notation requirements on their rigs and production units, thereby contributing to national oil companies' emission reduction goals.

Of particular significance is DNV's Offshore Service Centre (OSC) in Dubai, offering extensive engineering support across the entire lifecycle of offshore rigs, from conceptual studies to operational phases. Our OSC team, comprising a diverse array of specialists, collaborates with offshore operators to devise innovative solutions while upholding stringent quality and safety standards. Additionally, we offer consultancy services such as fatigue studies, condition assessment, and condition monitoring to support the offshore industry in the region further.

DNV’s Maritime Academy is a leading global training provider in the maritime industry. Our regional Academy based in Dubai supports all our Middle East and Africa customers, offering a comprehensive training programme to build up their competence and improve their business performance.

Apart from our standard training, we also offer tailored training that matches customers’ requirements. Our training sessions are organized as public or in-house sessions - F2F or Live online. We also offer e-learning and certification programmes.
